TWO RAK YOUNG GUNS IN NSW TRACK TEAM

Two members of the Real Aussie Kids team have been named in the NSW U19 line up for the upcoming Australian Cycling Championships.  Jared Triggs and Jack Beckinsale, both in their first year of the U19 category were selected to represent NSW at the National event in Adelaide from 2nd - 7th February.   

Cycling NSW's CEO, Kevin Young has touted the NSW team "to be the strongest and most talented track cycling team to represent NSW for some time", and is expecting a solid medal haul.  Both Triggs and Beckinsale have been selected to contest the endurance events such as the Individual Pursuit, Team Pursuit, Scratch Race and Point Score.

YELLOW JERSEY SNATCHED FROM KIMMINCE AT BAY CLASSIC

Lady Luck was not shining on talented young Inverell cyclist Ethan Kimmince when he narrowly missed out on taking out the overall yellow jersey in the Men’s Support category at the Jayco Bay Classic in Victoria today. 

The Real Aussie Kids rider was competing with the NSW Institute of Sport in Geelong for the four day series and had consistently finished in the top five placings in the first three days of racing comfortably landing him in the yellow jersey on the penultimate stage. “I had a four point lead over my nearest rival, and all I had to do was finish with the bunch and stay out of trouble”, said Kimmince after the race.

RAK ON PODIUM AT CRONULLA

Real Aussie Kids team is off to an outstanding start to the season with a 2nd place finish at the Cronulla International Criterium last weekend. Fox who rode in the strong field of under 17’s riders displayed he has matured into a savvy rider, displaying patience and great timing to launch his sprint in the final lap of the race, narrowly missing the win from Ewan Kaleb from Southern Highlands. Fellow Real Aussie Kids riders, Josh Blick (Taree) and Nathan Bradshaw (Sydney) also had a great race to finish in fourth and fifth positions respectively.

TRIGGS 2nd IN NSW INDIVIDUAL PURSUIT

Jared Triggs demonstrated he is recovering well from a broken wrist, when he came 2nd in the NSW JM19 Individual Pursuit Championship last weekend.  Triggs is a first year in the age category and came in in a time of 3mins 34sec.  He topped off the weekend with a 2nd in the Clarence Street Cup.  He is looking forward to the balance of the State Championship events next weekend.


RAK DUO RIDE FOR AUSTRALIA IN TASSIE

Real Aussie Kid riders Lachlan Morton and Sam Spokes are excited to don the Green and Yellow banded Australian Cycling uniform when they join the Australian U19 Cycling team in Tasmania next week for the Tour of Tasmania. Morton and Spokes named in the Australian Junior Worlds Reserve Team last May have been called up to join the team for the six day event. “It is my first selection in an Australian Team, and I hope to justify my selection in Tassie”, said Morton. Spokes describes his selection as “My biggest thrill in racing”.

RAK GLOWS GOLDEN AT NATIONALS

The Real Aussie Kids U17 squad acquitted themselves admirably at the 2009 Australian Junior Road Cycling Championships held in Canberra last weekend. The Championships was the culmination of a long and demanding road season spanning six months, where the wet and cold weather tested even the toughest rider’s psyche, and the RAK boys proved they have the goods, coming into the nationals in peak condition.

RAK RIDERS PAST AND PRESENT SHINE AT G2I

It was a showcase of the Real Aussie Kids Program with a strong representation of past and present RAK members at the epic Grafton to Inverell Classic Road Race, in what turned out to be a weekend of high drama. 
 
Lauren Kitchen (RAK 07-08) lined up for the women’s Celtic Tour de Femme, a 95km road race from Glenn Innes to Inverell. Lauren wasted no time in creating a breakaway in the early stages of the race, which was brought back just before the main climb by the chasing peloton, however, Lauren used the hills to her advantage and again pulled away from the main bunch with two other riders ...
